How we work
Attitude
It’s not about what we do, but how we do it. Our toolkit is jam-packed with knowledge from a combined half-century in theatre, deployed to promote alternatives for how, by and for whom art gets made. When it comes to systems, we believe in the generative outcomes of asking why and how come. We value both the new and the re-imagined. We gravitate toward the wry and unusual. We have a hell of a lot of fun.
Approach
Each project is an opportunity to modify traditional for-profit hierarchies and breathe new energy into the industry of theatre. As a team liberally stockpiled with experience in financing, developing, administering, directing, writing, and performing, we take a holistic and hybrid approach to producing. Just as comfortable with the nuts-and-bolts as we are with emotional souvenirs, we root our values-system in paying attention to people. Through this lens, Occasional Drawl develops, produces, incubates, imagines – and creates new standards for the behind-the-scenes work that brings great art to the stage.
